Kaldora Angoras
Established in 1983 Registered Flock number 887
|
Kaldora Angoras started in a small way with only 13 animals. Breed
from NZ Registered Angoras. With in a few years we had built the flock
to over 250 animals. Australian Bloodlines were introduced in the
1988, Glenroy, Bells Hill, Osory, Telstar.
In 1989 the large flock of Waitangi Angoras (Landcorp) were shifting
all their Angora Stud to the South Island. They decided to only take
Does 4yrs old and younger; we knowing the stud master at the time
had the privilege of first pick of all the older Does left behind.
Out of the 200 does we chose 20 to be added to our flock.

Some of these doe's descendants are still in our flock today. The flock at this stage was around 300 goats. In 1990 we moved farms to a much larger property where the flock was increased to around 450 goats. During that time we had been culling heavily, aiming for strong constitution, performance and feet.

Also being involved in many local Goats shows, winning many championships
and trophies. 1993 The introduction of South African Angoras to NZ.
The introduction of African genetics to the flock has taken Kaldora
Angoras to new heights in performance. Bloodlines of Saatech Park
through African Goat Flock increase the fleece weight to and average
1st shear clip of 1.8kgs buck kids and 1.4 kg for doe kids for 6 months
fleece. The frame and size of the animals was another great influence
in the continuing success of Kaldora Angoras.

1995
we also purchase the remaining flock of Carley Park Angoras owned
by Christine Jenkins. These Does are all large framed and heavy clipping
does. Since then the bloodlines of Thorn Park, Weinand & sons (Africa),
Karangara Texan Outlaw, River Angoras (Australia) have been introduced
to our flock. Only over the last two years have we been selling our
young bucks for replacement sires. They have shown excellent fleece
weights and good constitution.
|
Kaldora Angoras
has been run as a commercial flock with all animals performance recording.
We have scaled our farming operation down now as we have a smaller
property. The flock has been culled heavily to 60 breeding does. We
feel these animals have been selected from a large breeding base with
many years of performance recorded behind them. Goats are available
for sale and export.
